ICMR stands for the Indian Council of Medical Research. It is India’s oldest and largest biomedical research association. It was established in 1911 as (Indian Research Fund Association) IRFA and it was renamed in 1948. Department of Health Research of the Indian Government is funding this association. Its headquarters is located in New Delhi, India. Twenty-six Indian National institutes are working under the ICMR to deal with the research on particular health topics like cholera, leprosy, tuberculosis, and diarrhoeal diseases. They are also working on viral diseases including AIDS, food & drug toxicology, kala-azar, vector control, malaria, nutrition, reproduction, immuno-hematology, oncology, medical statistics, etc. The Union Health Minister is governing the ICMR.

ICMR stands for International Center for Materials Research. It was established in 2007 at the University of California, Santa Barbara. It provides a common platform for the materials scientists and engineers for the research activities. UCSB has partners like the California NanoSystems Institute (CNSI), Materials Research Laboratory (MRL), and the Materials Department. It picks up the advantages of UCSB’s excellent tradition in materials research and moreover the campus’s outstanding location overlooking the Pacific Ocean. ICMR sponsored various types of international programs ranging from thematic Summer Schools to Overseas Workshops. The Division of Materials Research and the Office of International Science and Engineering at the National Science Foundation is funding the ICMR. ICMR is one of the numbers of institutes which are the International Materials Institutes supported by the DMR at NSF.
