Injection Control Pressure Short Form
Injection Control Pressure short form is ICP. The injector control pressure sensor is part of an engine management component that is commonly found on diesel engines. This component will continuously monitor your diesel engine’s oil delivery pressure in the injector. The ICP sensor detects the pressure of the fuel feeding the injectors in the engine and sends that specific signal to the computer. This signal means that the sensor provides feedback and indicates the needed and existing injection pressure in the injectors of the engine. So that it can make the adjustments for optimum performance and efficiency of engines. The injection control pressure sensor works as a moderator of sorts and it makes sure about the engine is running at maximum efficiency level.
The location of the ICP sensor is on the driver-side cylinder head near the high-pressure oil pump towards the front of the engine. If your ICP Sensor in the engine is faulty it can cause various types of problems like surging, Poor idle, stalling, and it also stops the engine to start at all.
How to replace ICP Sensor?
You can replace the ICP sensor with the help of the following steps:
- Disconnect the fuel supply
- Remove pressure from the fuel system
- Gain access to the IC pressure sensor
- Remove the IC pressure sensor
- Install the new IC pressure sensor
- Check for fuel leaks
- Turn the ignition to the on position and wait 10 or 15 seconds
- Reinstall everything
- Clear fault codes if needed
