HIPAA Full Form is the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996
HIPAA meaning is the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996. In short, HIPAA stands for Kassebaum–Kennedy Act and Kennedy–Kassebaum Act. This act was signed by the former President of USA Bill Clinton. The main purpose of this act was to protect the information in the healthcare department and also avoid fraudulent activities between healthcare companies and insurance companies. Moreover, it also deals with the restrictions on healthcare insurance coverage.
HIPAA consists of five main titles. Which are given below for better understanding:
- Title I, HIPAA protects health insurance coverage for workers and their families when they change or lose their jobs.
- Title II of HIPAA, known as the Administrative Simplification (AS) provisions. It requires the setup of national standards for electronic health care transactions and national identifiers for providers, health insurance plans, and employers.
- Title III, Provides guidelines for pre-tax medical spending accounts.
- Title IV sets guidelines for group health plans.
- Title V governs company-owned life insurance policies.
HIPAA Violations

Few of them solved by fine and different types of adjustments. However, some of them can deal with criminal justice law.
